WALKING

Cornlee is perfectly located as a base to explore Wensleydale and Swaledale on foot.  We can provide details and maps for a number of interesting walks over a variety of distances. Walks can include places of interest such as Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle and Semer Water and / or attractive towns and villages such as Askrigg ("Darrowby"), West Burton, Bainbridge, Hawes, Reeth, Keld, Muker and Gunnerside.

The Herriot Way is a four-day circular walk through Wensleydale and Swaledale.  The walk, totalling approximately 52 miles, is based on a holiday undertaken by the author Alf Wight (better known as James Herriot) and traditionally starts / finishes in Aysgarth with overnight stops in Reeth, Keld and Hawes.  Copies of ‘The Herriot Way’, a guide to the walk written and personally signed by Norman Scholes are available to purchase from us.  Having undertaken the walk ourselves in 2007, we are happy to provide any advice required!

Cornlee is also conveniently located for stops on The Centurion Walk, John O'Groats to Land's End, The Inn Way, Lady Anne's Way and The Alternative Coast to Coast.
